Welcome. You're part of a new world now. You're not sure where you are, you don't even know where you came from. What you do know ... is how to survive.

Magic will defend you. Magic will aid you. In order to escape, you have to activate the exit portals. However, its not as easy as pressing a button (Why would it be?). This new world you're in has these things. These objects, these....shards. Thats it, they're the connection! Do what you have to to get the shards. They will lead you to the answer.
